Vehicles in German City Found Covered with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement State

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Police reported they were contacted by a man who noticed a automobile in Hanau smeared with red-colored fluid

Around 50 vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.

Police say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.

The substance had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Officers then discovered multiple other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials state early analysis suggest the fluid was likely blood from a person.

"At present there remains no indication as to its source; authorities are currently not cognizant of any harm in connection with the occurrence," they added.

Municipal representatives stated they were working "to unravel the mystery" and have appealed to the community for details.

A senior representative commented the incident rendered him speechless and had to be solved rapidly.

"This act strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing attack five years ago," he wrote on online, referring to the death of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
